Adamu Bello by performance stood like a mighty oak. He was generally regarded as one of the twinkling stars of an administration headed by President Olusegun Obasanjo, so much that he sparkled season after seasons and thus earning the distinction of arguably the longest-serving Minister of the Federal Republic in the dispensation. This is a book that does justice to its subject in a refreshingly different way.

Despite the fact that the narrator tells the story from his own perspective, even those who may not necessarily agree with him are likely to admire his guts, candour and unique manner of narration. At a time when corruption continues to gather traction, Adamu Bello’s manner of handling such a very sensitive position is outstanding. The more of these class of books we get from our political and business leaders every now and then, the better. This will enable the present and future generation measure the performance of their leaders.

His story should convince us that there is no standard than truth. We have to realize without equivocation that the pursuit of material prosperity alone would land us to blind alley.  Adamu was deeply concerned about the welfare of the ‘unprivileged’ classes in Nigeria. While striving to promote the good of agriculture in the society, he directed his first care and attention to the needs of the poor and lows, training farmers in becoming best exporters in Africa and the world in general.

This is particularly so, considering the level of issues that raged, long after he had left the stage. By treating this and similar other weighty issues as dispassionately as he can, the author provides readers robust insight into who did what and why between 2001 and 2015.
